Nigel Wight, the leader of the Social Performance and Resource Governance team at SMI-ICE-Chile, was invited to participate in a discussion group organized by BHP’s IndiGO team to discuss the concept of «good neighbour» and the key aspects of social performance that mining operations should consider in increasingly complex times.

Pamela Bourke, a researcher at the Centre for Social Responsibility in Mining at The University of Queensland, led a workshop on community dialogue and engagement, which was attended by Chilean alumni of the University of Queensland (UQ) and also some members of the SMI-ICE-Chile team.

Within the framework of the “Valuation Plan” project, developed in collaboration with Codelco Salvador Division, the team from the Environmental Rehabilitation and Ecosystem Dynamics area traveled to the commune of Diego de Almagro, in the Atacama Region, to show students, teachers and parents of this northern town, that knowledge about the native peoples and the environment can be an exciting experience.
