The Sustainable Minerals Institute is made up of six research centres, one centre of excellence in Chile and a technology transfer company. The International Centre of Excellence in Chile aims to provide tangible benefits to Chile’s people and economy. SMI-ICE-Chile is a global mining knowledge hub that generates human capital, produces cutting-edge research and performs effective technology transfer to industry. The Centre in Chile also bases its work on extensive experience in many areas of Chilean mining research.

The SMI International Centre of Excellence in Chile (SMI-ICE-Chile) seeks to help solve the major challenges faced by the mining industry in our country, developing research-based technological solutions and enhancing capabilities in affected territories to generate transformational processes that benefit all inhabitants.
