The program seeks to promote sustainable closure processes of mining sites, to generate value, protect ecosystems and guarantee the well-being of communities. Transition processes towards new activities in the territories are promoted, creating networks of partners with interested parties in order to address the challenges of sustainable mine closure.
SMI-ICE-Chile commits its research team to deepen knowledge about sustainable closure from a multidisciplinary approach that contributes to the development of new skills and technologies, to make a substantive contribution to the industry in the face of the challenge of scheduled closure. We also aspire to make our contribution in terms of national legislation being updated based on the new demands and expectations of key actors.
