At the recent international conference on Mineral Processing and Metallurgy, Procemin 2024, SMI-ICE-Chile researcher Dr. Dennis Vega was interviewed by Reporte Minero, a Chilean television program on mining, about the main challenges facing responsible mineral processing.

“Today we see a greater acceptance from the industry of changes and improvements in the responsible processing of resources,” said the SMI-ICE-Chile professional. “Not only because of legal obligations and new standards, but also because there is an awareness in the industry (…) More needs to be done, but we are going in the right direction. The biggest challenge is to increase production while maintaining responsible processing… in a green line of reducing emissions and optimizing resources. The big challenge is how to produce more while generating fewer emissions.”
