This project is being developed within the framework of CORFO’s Create and Validate Program, which promotes innovation. Its objective is to comprehensively address the critical challenge of the unequal distribution of water resources throughout Chile, seeking to develop an innovative and sustainable solution to the country’s water scarcity. The project, «Comprehensive Water Supply Solutions for the Development of Resilient Territories,» proposes developing—through optimization algorithms—a water planning tool that efficiently integrates water supply networks, with the goal of moving toward an integrated system and gradually reducing the excessive consumption of individual water sources.
The novelty of this project is the search for a nationwide tool that would bring this type of integrated solution to all regions of Chile, optimizing water interconnection networks while considering sustainability aspects.
It is also proposed to separate the tool from the ArcGIS system and integrate it with other freely available software to improve the availability of the platform or Graphical User Interface (GUI).
