Line of Research: Comprehensive Occupational Safety and Health
Rocío holds a degree in Industrial Civil Engineering with a minor in Mining from the Pontifical Catholic University of Chile. She also holds a Master’s degree in Engineering Sciences from the same university and a Diploma in Data Analytics from MIT and the University of Chile.
Her career has focused on the integration of technology, data, and sustainability in the mining industry, with a strong focus on health and safety. She began her career at ZYGHT, leading software projects focused on safety and compliance in management systems. She later became part of Codelco, where she worked on ESG data analysis and risk management for the Rajo Inca project. Later, she became part of ZYGHT by Datamine as Operations Manager, leading ESG digital projects for large-scale mining.
Rocío has been an associate professor in risk management courses for mining companies and is currently the general manager and co-founder of Qhana, a firm specializing in advanced modeling and artificial intelligence for geosciences, mining, and engineering. She is also a researcher in the Safety and Health Area of SMI-ICE Chile, where she promotes training programs in critical risk management.
