Pablo Bustos Figueroa

Junior Researcher

Line of research: Environmental Rehabilitation and Ecosystem Dynamics

Pablo has an undergraduate degree in agricultural engineering and a Master of Soil and Water Management from Universidad de Chile. His main areas of expertise include the impact of anthropogenic activities on the natural environment, soil and water quality assessments for different uses and remediation of contaminated sites.

His main lines of work are related to the impact of mining waste on soils, sediment, plants and inland waters, as well as non-traditional techniques for the remediation of sites contaminated with heavy metals and metalloids, such as phytoremediation. He has worked on projects on the impact of tailings and concentrate spills on water courses and the evaluation of native plants as prospects for stabilizing contaminating elements.
