José has an undergraduate degree in mining engineering from Universidad de Chile and has specialized in mineral processing, energy efficiency and optimization through process modelling and simulation. He has experience in the processing and analysis of laboratory test data and metallurgical processes at SGS Minerals Chile, where he completed an internship and his thesis. He is currently working at SMI-ICE-Chile in the Processing: Energy, Water and Emissions research line, focused on the efficient supply and consumption of water and energy resources in mining operations. His work specifically focuses on studying the impacts of water quality variations on metal recovery by flotation and identifying alternative solutions to increase water recirculation capacity and reduce the industry’s water footprint.
Line of Research: Responsible processing and mine process optimisation
