Felipe has an undergraduate degree in biology from Universidad de Concepción, along with a Master of Environmental Management and a PhD in environmental engineering, geology and geochemistry from The University of Queensland, Australia. He currently leads the Environmental Rehabilitation and Ecosystem Dynamics team and serves as the Research and Development Project Manager at SMI-ICE-Chile. Felipe has over 10 years’ experience leading applied research projects and specialized consulting in mining sustainability. His expertise covers critical areas such as mine rehabilitation and closure, water and tailings management, mine waste characterization, acid mine drainage, strategic planning for sustainability, circular economy in mining, as well as contaminated site assessment and remediation, among other fields. His career has focused on developing and managing projects for the mining industry, providing strategic recommendations to improve environmental performance and meet industry standards and regulations.
