Line of Research: Responsible processing and mine process optimisation

Camilo has an undergraduate degree in biochemistry, microbial genetics and food science from Institut National des Sciences Appliquées (INSA Toulouse, France) and graduate studies in post-genomics from the same institution. He has worked as a scholar and researcher, leading interdisciplinary groups and projects focused on designing context-based technologies to mitigate environmental and health effects. He has specialized in sensory systems and participatory monitoring and the effective use of these technologies by communities for decision making.

He is currently working as an associate researcher at SMI-ICE-Chile on participatory environmental sensing and monitoring applied to socio-environmental issues in the mining industry. He is currently an associate professor and Director of Innovation at the Universidad del Desarrollo School of Engineering, as well as Director of the Centre for Research in Technologies for Society (C+) at the same institution.
