Camila is a Psychologist from Universidad Adolfo Ibáñez with a Master’s in Social Psychology. Her main expertise is in the facilitation of dialogue processes, indigenous rights, and the implementation of agreements between Indigenous Peoples and mining companies.
Her main areas of interest are the evaluation of social impacts, sustainable development, gender approach, and mental health.
She currently works as a junior researcher in the social performance line of research at SMI-ICE-Chile.

Daniela is a Political Scientist from the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile. She has more than ten years of experience in research management, particularly in academic administration at a national and international level, as well as the management of external research funds with public and private financing. Her areas of interest are sustainability and international relations.
Daniela currently works as the External Relations and Outreach Manager at SMI-ICE-Chile.
Pablo Bustos – English
Pablo is an agronomist with a Master’s in Soil and Water Management from Universidad de Chile, specialised in soil evaluation with agricultural and environmental aims, as well as the evaluation of mining activity impacts on water, plants and soils.
He has over 4 years of experience on agrological and baseline study development for soils in the private sector. He has also focused on mining waste impacts on natural environments and humans, as well as the development of new sustainable methodologies for mine closure planning.
He currently works as a Soil and Water Specialist focused on environmental remediation, in the Tailings and Contaminated Soil area of SMI-ICE-Chile.

Laura is a Forestry Engineer from Universidad de Chile and Master in Environmental Management and Administration candidate from Universidad Arturo Prat, Chile. Likewise, she has a Graduate Diploma in Public Space Landscape Design from Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile.
With over seven years of experience in environmental consulting and engineering, Laura has carried out Project engineering and coordination roles. She has participated in the consolidation of Environmental Impact Declarations (DIA in Spanish) and Environmental Impact Assessments (EIA in Spanish) for diverse projects with different topologies such as mining, transport, roadworks, among others. She has specialised in environmental characterisation of ecosystems, baseline surveying and seasonal monitoring of land and aquatic vegetation, forestry management planning and work plans for xerophytic formations for projects in the North, Centre and South of Chile.
She currently Works as a Project Engineer, in the Tailings and Contaminated Land area, at SMI-ICE-Chile.
Homero Márquez – English
Homero is an engineer in renewable natural resources and agronomy, both from Universidad de Chile, specialised in geomatics particularly in geographic information systems, remote sensing, and geospatial data management. He is currently studying an online Master’s in Big Data y Data Science from Universidad Complutense de Madrid, Spain with the objective of integrating the methods and tools for the management of geospatial data.
With over 14 years of experience and a professional development in Environmental Impact Assessments, Homero has focused on management and analysis of data, primarily of geographic and biodiversity data, as well as the management, coordination and creation of spreadsheets, databases, reports and thematic cartography, and in project coordination and team leadership for achieving strategic and technical objectives.
He currently works as a Geospatial Analyst in the Tailings and Contaminated Land area of SMI-ICE-Chile.
Daisy Negrete – English

Daisy has a Business Administration degree from Manpower Chile, with studies as a General Accountatn at Liceo Comercial Rigoberto Fontt Izquierdo. She has over 10 years of experience in the areas of administration, finance, and human resources, primarily in the retail and textile manufacturing sectors. She has created and managed administrative and accounting strategies, leading work teams, as well as planning the growth and development of companies.
Daisy has specialised in the creation of reports, banking conciliation, account analysis, financial report presentations, among others. Her development in human resources has led her to create communication channels, acquire new knowledge and capacities, develop negotiation, analysis and organization in the management of teams, promoting empathy as one of the most important values in that area.
She currently works as an accounting and human resources analyst at SMI-ICE-Chile.
María Paz Valenzuela – English
María Paz is an agronomist with a Master’s in Soil and Water Management from Universidad de Chile, specialised in soil evaluation with agricultural and environmental aims.
She has over 7 years of experience, in the public sector she worked in local environmental management and for the private sector she has carried out environmental monitoring through the evaluation of soil, sediment, vegetation species and water impacted by mining.
She currently works as a Soil and Water Specialist focused on environmental remediation, in the Tailings and Contaminated Soil area of SMI-ICE-Chile.

Jacques is a Geologist Civil Engineer from the Université de Liège, Belgium, with a PhD – Doctorat en Sciences Appliquées from the same University. He has over twenty-five years of experience in the mining industry as a Research Engineer, academic, and consultant, committed to sustainability. His main fields of expertise are Biohydrometallurgy / Bioleaching, Environmental impact assessment studies for mining projects, Mine closure planning, Water management, Geochemical characterization of mine wastes, and Chemical stability of tailings deposits.
His areas of interest are Sustainable mine waste management, Water management, Circular economy in the mining industry, Sustainability indicators for the mining industry. Jacques currently works as a senior researcher in the Environmental Rehabilitation and Ecosystem Dynamics line of research at SMI-ICE-Chile.
Daniela Gamboa – English
Daniela has a Bachelor’s in Forestry Sciences from Universidad de Chile. She has over 10 years of experience in consulting services focused on environmental and sustainable development issues. She has led diverse projects for governmental and private sector organizations. Her areas of expertise are ecosystem impact evaluations, use of geographic information systems for data and result management, and design and implementation of development and technology projects focused on environmental sustainability.
She currently works in the Tailings and Contaminated Land Rehabilitation research line at SMI-ICE-Chile as Project Engineer, part of a multidisciplinary team focused on the evaluation and rehabilitation of contaminated mines.
