Barbara is an Art Historian from The University of New Mexico, USA. She has Post-Graduate Diplomas in Human Capital Management from Universidad Adolfo Ibáñez; Community Relations and Socio-Economic Conflict Prevention from Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile; and Sustainability Strategies from Pontificia Universidad Católica de Valparaíso, Chile. She has lived and studied in different countries including Chile, Brazil, Venezuela, Mexico and the United States.
With over 15 years in the mining industry, she has focused her career on the exchange of knowledge through courses, conferences and their proceedings, communication among different parties, and generating networking opportunities. She has personally focused on gender equity and diversity, as a member of Women in Mining International as well as of WIM Chile. She hopes to promote and encourage sustainability strategies in all aspects of life, specially focused on company management and decision making.
Currently she is in charge of Communications at SMI-ICE-Chile, working on internal and outreach initiatives that seek to promote research projects focused on sustainability and diversity in the industry. She is also a member of the Diversity and Inclusion Committee at SMI-UQ, and the President of Gender and Diversity Committee of Auscham, the Chile-Australia Chamber of Commerce.
