Our Team

The Sustainable Minerals Institute (SMI) is based at The University of Queensland with six research centres in Australia and one in Chile. SMI’s aim is to develop knowledge-based solutions to the complex problems facing the resource industry as it seeks to reduce its impact on communities and the environment, and reshape its role in sustainable development.
The SMI-ICE-Chile team is a multi-disciplinary and multi-talented group of dedicated professionals who share a vision of a sustainable and productive global mining industry. Through a collaborative and inclusive work methodology, projects are carried out alongside industrial and academic partners, to co-create solutions, methodologies and finally generate structural improvements to the work and envision the future of the resources and processes in the minerals industry.
