Biografía:  David is Doctor in Pharmacy by the University of Santiago de Compostela (Spain), with specialization in Ecology and a postgraduate degree in Quality of Soils and Waters by the Institute of Food Analysis of the University of Santiago de Compostela (Spain). David joined the SMI-ICE Chile in 2018, where he holds the position of Scientific Leader of the Center. David has more than 25 years of experience in scientific research, during which has participated in several national and international projects and authored numerous articles in indexed Journals. His expertise and main research lines include the (bio)geochemistry, (eco)toxicology and human health risks of arsenic and other toxic elements in environmental systems, the geochemical stability and reutilization of mining wastes (particularly Cu tailings and bauxite red mud), the removal of toxic metal(loid)s from water and wastewaters, the (bio)remediation of polluted soils and waters, and the drinking water quality control.
